I’m very lucky in that I work helping sell products that I use and really believe in. Atlassian makes really nice collaboration and software development tools. Obviously not being a dev, I benefit the most from the collaboration benefits of our tools. 🙂
Anyways we just launched a promotion this week (Atlassian Stimulus Package) offering 5 user licenses of our world class issue tracker (JIRA) and enterprise wiki (Confluence) applications for $5 each. Normally they both sell for an average of around $3,000 each (for larger user numbers of course). And all the proceeds go to charity which is even better.
The issue tracker (JIRA) is obviously great for software developers but it can also be a great tool for anyone who has items to accomplish (issues in JIRA-speak), needs to track those items through a customizable workflow, assign those items to people and then track them through to completion. And every single organization out there could benefit from having Confluence be your collaboration hub. It is so much more than a wiki. Trust me on that one – I had never used anything like it before joining Atlassian and that is our single most powerful internal communication and collaboration tool.
I’m normally not one to blow the company horn in my personal life, but I thought that there might be some people I know who could benefit. If you’re a team of less than 5 – both are easily worth the $5.
As JIRA and Confluence are web applications, you’d want to have them installed at a server that your team could access which either means your internal computer network or a hosting provider. I believe we’re going to be sharing some ideas on how to use Amazon’s cloud computing to host the licenses this week so if you’re interested in that, subscribe to our blog. I do know of one AU company offering a few free months of hosting but I’d balance that with Amazon and see what you think.
Enjoy!
